Wine tasting: 2009 will be a great year

dsc_0181Good news for visitors this summer. 2008 was a great year for wines in the area around Fourques (Cotes du Roussillon). The fine sunny weather and low rainfall resulted in a small but high quality crop that will be ready by early summer 2009.

There are plenty of places to try out local reds, roses and whites. The Fourques cooperative is open most days and is just 50 yards away from the villa. Even closer is Vin Pujol, just 20 yards in the opposite direction. English visitors may want to drive the short distance to Trouillas where staff at the co-operative include Karen, a UK ex-pat who will happy to host a wine tasting session that includes the renowned Muscat (vin doux/sweet wine), which makes an ideal aperetif or digestif.
